You may know her on Instagram and YouTube as Baby Yota, but here at Norma, we know her as Lindsay, one of the first Norma partners in which I’ve had the pleasure of working. Whether she’s overlanding in the beautiful, snowy mountains of her home state of Idaho, or raising her two little ones at home, Lindsay prioritizes firearm training and exercising her second amendment right. So without further ado, meet Lindsay, and read why Norma is proud to call her a partner.
Q: Where are you from originally?
A: I was born in New Mexico but moved to Idaho when I was very little. I’ve been here ever since.
Q: When and how did you first hear about Norma?
A: At SHOT Show 2021. I happened to stop by the booth and that is where I was first introduced to Norma and the ammunition they produce.
Q: When did you first become interested in shooting and why?
A: Growing up in a house full of girls, my dad wanted to at least give us the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of how to shoot. As I got older, I wanted to become even more familiar with firearms, and now its become my personal goal and something I love to teach my own kids.
Q: What is your favorite Norma product and why?
A: The 5.56×45 NATO ammunition would have to be my favorite because it has always given me reliable accuracy during training runs.
Q: What advice would you give to an anxious new shooter or someone interested in learning to shoot a firearm?
A: Not to be intimidated by what people may think of you or the way you are learning. There has been many girls that have reached out to me and asked me how to deal with the constant “correcting” and judging that they receive. Many people are too focused on how someone is doing something, and we should instead be proud and support the women (and men) who are trying to become familiar with shooting. I believe it’s important to know that we are all on this road of learning and everyone starts somewhere.
Q: What are three fun facts about you outside of shooting that you want people to know about you?
A: One, I am involved in a lot of overlanding in my Toyota 4Runner. For those who are unfamiliar with overlanding, it’s pretty much where you fix up your vehicle to go off-road on camping adventures. Two, I also love hitting the gym. It’s the one other thing that not only keeps me physically healthy, but mentally as well. Three. I am one of the biggest nerds out there. Gaming, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, I love it all. I strongly believe that having that imagination is a key part of creativity.
Q: What aspect of shooting sports are you most passionate about sharing with your audience?
A: I am the mom of two handsome boys that I love so incredibly much. I want to encourage other moms or women in general that you can be a protector of you and your family as well. Become familiar with firearms and take those training courses. By taking those steps, if and when the time comes to where you have to protect yourself or your family, you will know exactly what you’ve been trained to do. It will then come naturally. Also, instilling all the knowledge I’ve learned into my children is another big goal of mine. I want them to grow up knowing the importance of the second amendment and how to exercise that right responsibly.
